Get to know your trainer

What is your motto?

Believe that you can do it, and you will one day.

What is your sport and fitness background?

I never played any sports seriously when I was small. I grew up as a typical local kid whose parents never introduced any sports in my childhood. But I played a lot of volleyball, badminton, and basketball when I was in secondary school. I really only started to be interested in working out when I was 18, when I started to feel fat. I did lots of running, then I started to practice Muay Thai and kettlebell in my early to mid-20s.

What are your current favourite workout music tracks?

I usually don’t play music while working out in order to focus on my breathing and techniques during exercise.

How often do you work out? What is your typical training routine?

I usually work out 3 times per week and twice per week 45-60 minutes walking or light jogging.

My typical training routine:

#1. 45-55 minutes of high intensity interval training such as a mixture of sprinting, rowing, airdyne, jumping, skipping ropes with power exercises

#2. 45 to 60 minutes of calisthenics training such as pull ups, dips, gymnastic rings work once per week

#3. 60 minutes of moderate to heavy strength-based weight training once per week

What do you like to do when you have time off?

Spend time with my family and cook.

What is your typical eating routine, from breakfast to dinner?

I usually eat 3 meals and 2 snacks.

For breakfast, I either have scrambled eggs with avocado, a slice of toast, a glass of orange juice and coffee or 2 slices of crunchy peanut butter and honey toast and coffee.

Lunch and dinner are very similar: Usually a combination of protein, carbohydrates and fiber, from grilled salmon to roasted chicken or panfried tofu steak with a portion of mixed salad or roasted vegetables such as sweet potato or potato wedges, broccoli, red peppers, asparagus. I also enjoy grilled fish over steamed rice or asian style poached chicken. Generally high protein but lower in fat with good quality vegetables and carbs.

What is your favourite cheat food?

A couple scoops of vanilla ice cream!

What is your top tip for clients pursuing their goals?

Be consistent.

What would you never be caught dead doing in the gym?

Using the seated thighs adduction/abduction machine!

If you could only do one exercise in the gym for a month, what would it be?

Gymnastic rings skin the cat.

You are granted a magical chance to become really talented at one thing. What would it be?

Dancing!

What would someone have to do to get on your ‘favourite clients’ list?

Train with an open mind and be a good listener.

Being open-minded in training free up your body to try new techniques as I love exploring new efficient and practical techniques to save time in training for myself and my clients.

Being a good listener meaning that my clients been listening to my cueing when I coach and I know that they will remember what I have taught them so that they are less likely to get themselves injured.
